| Fishing the fall season.....This is my favorite season and it is a fantastic time of year for catching those elusive trophy stripers and catfish. The weather is cooler and the big cows are fat and happy. Large stripers don't tolerate water temperatures above 75 degrees and the monster striped bass will seek deeper water for the cooler temperatures during the sweltering hot summer months. Water above 72 degrees holds less oxygen, so in warmer months both saltwater and freshwater striped bass head below the thermocline and closer to fast moving water and discharges where it is cooler. So it's about the time of year to keep your eyes on the falling water temperatures because stripers and catfish will be most prolific in this environment. It's time to get hooked. |

| Great action by the north islands!!! Biting early in the a.m. on shad in 26-38 ft water. Fishing is excellent from daybreak till about 9 in the morning. Fishing will improve as the temperature drops it is currently 83 degrees and clear. Lake elevation is just about to normal level for this time of year due to some much needed rain. Large mouth bass are biting good on crankbaits at 5-10 feet of water in the creek channels, white bass and striped bass are biting good on topwaters from surface to 10 feet near the islands, and catfish are biting good on cut shad from 5-10 feet deep in the Washita River arm. Large mouth bass are hitting fair on minnows and catfish are biting fair on liver and worms. This is a live report from your friendly Get Hooked striper guide Jimmy Bishop. |

| Wind is whipping across the lake and all the turbulence it is creating on the water has made fishing for the big cows a breeze....caught about 60 nice sized fish that will make great portioned filets for frying or grilling. Going out again tomorrow and hoping it is as good as it was today. |

| Had a cool front come through last night and the wind is kicking up the white caps bringing fishing to an entire new level. Caught a 12 pounder today!! The cows are loving the weather and practically putting themselves on the hook. It's the perfect time of year to catch a trophy bass worth mounting. So bring your hoodie and favorite drink and let's get it on. |

| If you've been wondering where I have been wonder no more because I've been reeling in the big ones and having a blast. They are biting like hell right now and showing off for everyone. Brought in a 17 pounder today, now that's what I call pretty. Hope to have pics soon. I'm hooked! |

| The temperature is dropping. This is my kind of fishing weather folks. I have two consecutive trips today and plan to have everyone leave with their limit and with a smile on their faces. And that's exactly how it happened. Caught some nice sized striped bass and two channel cat. The second trip started about 9 a.m. we hit it hard and limited out in about fifteen minutes. Unbelievable action on the lake today I think they would have chomped on Oscar Meyer wieners if we had thrown some out. The customers all left with huge bags of fish and smiling so my job is done. My goal is to show these people a good time and that was accomplished today. I love it!!!! |

| That's right, I'm at it again...The cooler temperatures are really bringing them around the surface and showing my customers and I lots of love. They are truly enjoying their trips and limiting out quite easily leaving us with more time for catch and release which is always fun just to see what you can bring in. I took some kiddos out on the lake and showed them what it's all about. They absorbed the information I had given them like sponges and they had a really great time as you can tell by the picture. | The wind was whipping and the waters were rough as we headed out for this trip! It even rained on us a little bit but nothing could dampen our spirits. This was perfect fishing weather! The thermocline drop and the whitecaps called all the big cows to the surface for chow time. We limited out in no time and still had plenty of time to piddle around and try to catch anything else the lake was serving up. The customers were happy and impressed and so was I. Took a little while to warm up after getting home but worth every minute of it. |

| Been a little while, I have been busy, busy, busy.... Wheew! It's cold out there today but I had a fishing trip this morning and we kicked some major bass. It didn't take us long to warm up at all, we left out about 7 this morning and we were limited out around 8. Things were just sailing along smoothly. We kept fishing even though we were limited out which always enables me to show the customers more of Lake Texoma and some proper catch and release methods. These customers will definatley be coming back for more. |

| This morning I had the wonderful oppurtunity to fish with the guys from Reds Beds located in Duncan, Oklahoma. The weather is just right to catch a ginormous cow unfortunately today wasn't our lucky day for that but we did bring in some nice sized ones. So once again the customers are pleased and I have showed them a wonderful time on Lake Texoma. Getting hooked, there's nothing like it! |

| TROPHY BASS ALERT: Now this may sound like a tall tale but I can assure you that it is a true story. Having had a wonderful Thanksgiving I thought I would go out and see what would happen in the middle of a wind storm with wind gusts of up to 40 mph and grass fires all around the entire area in which I reside. For those of you that may not know the region in Oklahoma in which I live is under some kind of drought and we have had some pretty vicious grass fires. So I go out in the middle of all of this chaos just me, my boys, and the shad on a mission for some serious fishing. After throwing out a couple of times I hooked the trophy bass of this season at least so far! He was hard to reel in with all that wind whipping us around but I was triumphant in the struggle and brought the cow in! |

| Hi, this is an update for December. The stripers are hitting and that spells loads of fun but to enjoy this fun it means getting up pretty early. Last week we had a hard cold spell come in but the water temperature is stilll in the sixties. Christmas is very close can you think of a better gift than a fishing trip for that special someone? Now is a great time to go and have some fun with your family or friends no excuses this is a great sport for kids, family, friends, and don't foget the ladies. | We go from 70 degree to 27 degrees,"This was the second day of a two-day fishing trip that I had schedulced, Sunday the weather man said it was going to rain but I had my doughts,But this wasn't going to change our mind,because we haven't seen rain in months,The hissing storm was quickly turning into a roaring tempest, sending a vast screen of rain against faces,an icy blast of wind that felt as cold as the March winds, "We fished for two hours and nothing, I just knew the front had messed fishing up for the day, Then all at once I looked across the bow of the boat and 300 yards west of us the birds started working, I told the guys to reel up and we'll follow the birds, "I run over there and shut it down right in front of them, and it was on, One , two , three, six, ten, in 45 mins we had are limit, The storm raged all day, I listened to the weather forecast that night 30 % chance, I would have bet it would never rain, "If you are willing to put up with the harsh elements I recognized that the heaviest fish of the year are caught from early winter all the way to the spawn Female stripers continue to add egg mass throughout the coldest periods, requiring them to feed more often than males, This becomes particularly acute once water temperatures begin to warm up during February. | Yes I said it Winter Hawgs are on the move, When the temperature plunges,fishing success doesn't have to.It look's like May and June out here, the big Hawgs are down around by Lowes in 52 to 56 foot water, coming to the surface, birds are really working about 10 to 11 in the morning. As the water temperature gets colder and winter progresses, many fish have a metabolic slow down. But the Stripers love it, They have a high metabolism and feed on shad and have a demand for a larger food intake so the hungry Striper feeds more and is more likely to be caught."We have had a warm winter, and as I have said before I look for it to be a record year. I am seeing lot's of 13 to 18 pounders being pulled.Shad are gathering in huge schools in the creeks and marina areas to avoid low temperatures that will kill them. Stripers follow the shad, gorging on a feast. You can find baitfish on sonar and look for bigger fish scattered around them. | Lake Texomas elevation is one and a half feet below normal, the water is very clear and the temperature is 52 degrees. We need some rain but the drought hasn't affected fishing all that much. White bass are fair on shad at about 15-20 feet of water North of the Roosevelt Bridge and Catfish are nibbling on stinkbait at 10-15 feet in, and Crappie are hitting on minnows and jigs about 5-10 feet in. As per usual the cow Striped Bass are hitting on sassy shad and making a big deal about it. The mornings have been cold about 32-37 degrees and the afternoons have been warmer at about 52-57 degrees just keeping them feeding greedily in the a.m. and resting more and more in the p.m. So as per usual the early bird gets the cow! | It was a cold one! This winter hasn't been as harsh as most other winters so when the temperature dropped to 21 degrees and the wind got to whipping good I wanted to climb back in bed! I caught the shad quite easily as a matter of fact a little too easy because they were all nestled together and with one cast of my net I brought up enough bait for the entire day and some. I met up with my customers at the marina and could not believe how bundled up they were, they resembled eskimos. All in all fishing was slow but good we caught a few nice ones but nothing to write home about. We limited out around noonish and headed back in to thaw out. | Fishing tactics? Three words of advice,here."Keep it simple.It may seem like a crazy idea,but it works,Give it a try and see. "Think outside of the boat. The big problem is most anglers dismiss their wild imaginings as too stupid to try. Or they just keep on doing what they're doing because they have always done it that way. It is human nature to stay in the comfort zone. "And always keep on going back to the same place because you caught a fish last week there or last month or two days ago. "Well let me tell you that fish you caught there is gone? To me,Trying new techniques and new places that are "not normal Yes I do the same thing, "I know sounds crazy but try it discovere new areas bottom of the lake changes over years ,like the surface of land when wind blows, When you think about it, it just makes good sense. I'm always on the lookout, When the fish aren't biting, a new game plan may be in order. I thought I would change things up and write a story like this hope you like it, "Fishin is still the same ,We fished in the rain Sat and was done by 9 in the morning, it was just as fast as the guy's could go. | It's raining, it's pooring and the trophy fish are definately not snoring! The recent very much needed rain has shook up the waters and brought the cows up to feast. I have been booked all weekend and we have had one hell of a time reeling them in one after the other. You can really tell the weather is about to change and how mother nature is preparing everything to happen along with that. In a small rivine that feeds into the lake I noticed several small sparkly things floating around in it and at closer inspection was able to identify them as shad, there were thousands and thousands of them little babies just floating away into the lake. | Just a little info STRIPERS: King of Lake Texoma Stripers, or striped bass, thrive in Lake Texoma because of the Lake's large size, high salt content and favorable spawning conditions found in the lake's two tributaries, the Red River and the Washita River. To help foster that option, the lake is also plentifully stocked with shad, the striper's favorite food. Stripers are the backbone of Lake Texoma Fishing. In fact, locals inaugurated The Kingston Striper Festival in celebration of this fiesty fish. Experts from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department cited Lake Texoma as the top striper lake in the state.
